Final Fantasy VII

On March 11, 1997, the game "Final Fantasy VII" dropped in Japan for PC, totally changing the game in the video game industry. Originally released for PlayStation in 1997, it was one of the first to make cinematic storytelling a thing in gaming, using CGI, an epic soundtrack, and deep character development to tell a super engaging story.

🎮 Connection to the Digital Creative Economy:

“Final Fantasy VII” showed how interactive narratives can turn a game into an emotional and culturally impactful experience. It not only boosted the gaming industry, but also influenced digital content production, from streaming and fandoms to transmedia storytelling, being a precursor to what we now know as expanded universes in digital entertainment.

🐲 Barkley analyzes:
“If an RPG from 1997 managed to create a legion of passionate fans to this day, it means that telling good stories in the digital space is one of the pillars of the creative economy! Content creators, developers, and artists can learn a lot from this: a good narrative is timeless and has the power to build loyal communities!”

🚀 Today’s lesson: Creativity combined with technology can turn any digital project into a cultural legacy!
